The fans of Marvel’s universe are looking forward – and have been for a long time – to Captain Marvel’s arrival in the ranks of the Avengers. As one of the strongest characters in the franchise, both in terms of power and influence, the company had to pull out its big guns to meet the high expectations of film-lovers.
As Marvel has rarely been wrong with his films, always offering funny, carabiné and relevant entertainment, he continues on his good course with the excellent Captain Marvel. The company is more than aware that it is the first superhero in the saga to have its own film. The release date of March 8, International Women’s Day, is certainly not a coincidence… The current social context will undoubtedly contribute to the popular success of the work. After the first black superhero (Black Panther), Marvel insists on putting a woman in the foreground. And, as it is the one which, according to what we have been able to understand in Avengers: Infinity War, remains the only solution to save a part of the human race (disintegrated by the deceit Thanos), we observe it with admiration and optimism.
Brie Larson accomplishes his task with brio.Strong, inspiring, bold, she brings us to love this complex character from the first moments. Ben Mendelsohn stands out in the role of the skrull warrior Talos, as does Samuel L. Jackson, who plays a Nick Fury more debonair than ever. For those who still wonder: yes, it is in this episode that we will learn how Fury lost his eye (are we satisfied with the circumstances that led to his disfigurement? Yes and no, but it will be for a later debate).
The comic aspect is very present in this new film, as was the case in most of the franchise’s previous productions. The Goose cat is responsible for the biggest laughs. It is important to know that, although it appears only a few seconds in the trailer, the orange feline takes a prominent place in this new chapter (a little too much even at certain times). Funny quiproquos as well as wild dialogues also contribute to the humorous side, as well as the many references that come to spice up the work in their own way.
With his singular narrative, more social discourse and comical wit, Captain Marvel completes the franchise well, without particularly distinguishing himself. We can’t wait for this impetuous character to join the Avengers.
P.S. Don’t miss the first stage of the final credits; fans of the Avengers franchise will be delighted.
